I have been experiencing a reawakening to what Jesus meant when he said, “I am the Light of the world”. Light has so many meanings, and where Jesus is concerned, He is the Light of all. I wanted to take a moment of your time to reflect on what this means to me and to our St. Luke community. Jesus came as the “Light of the World” to open our eyes to so many truths. He used Light of the World to give us the terminology to reflect and expound on His presence. He educated us to who He was, what His purpose was among us, and what it means for us, as His followers. Jesus asks us to be the Light of the World, to shine the truth, to bring happiness to others, and to be a beacon for all to see. This is an incredible honor and responsibility, not only to God, but to our community. I wanted to share with you some of the ways I have seen our community shine the Light of Jesus, even in this dark time. Some of our students have been coming to school since day 1. We all started together, working out our kinks, but never giving up. As more and more students are coming back on campus, I have seen our students take the new ones under their wing to assure and educate them to this new reality we are living currently. The kindness, compassion, and effort our children are showing to their peers is nothing short of astounding. They have become the Light of the World for not only our students, but the faculty and staff. We are growing together, we are bonding together, and we are becoming stronger together. The most important thing is that we are shining the light for all to see and to gain warmth from the assurance that together, we will be ok. As we plow through this pandemic, our teachers and staff have become the Light of the World in so many ways. They had to not only relearn how to teach, they had to overcome major fear about the unknown. The support and tireless energy spent on not only the children, but each other, is nothing short of astounding. The level of tireless planning, teaching, and communicating has reinvigorated our passion for our ministry. The kindness and compassion showed to all is truly emulating Jesus. They have become the Light of the World for many. PTC has been determined to provide our community with safe ways to allow us to still grow together as family. Their tenacity to provide this community bonding is nothing less than astounding. They have become the Light of the World allowing us to come together as a community to bond and feel human and loved. The children are able to see that life is still happening, and we can still provide moments to make them smile. School Council has been a rock of knowledge, patience, and honesty. Part of being the Light of the World means commitment to the truth. School Council has spent endless hours helping to sift through information to find the truths we need to ensure that our school has the best. They have also bravely defended truths to make sure that our school maintains integrity, is transparent with our community, and fights to keep our standards high. Father Eric has been the Light of the World for us all, as he leads our school and community of faith. His faith and strength have been a rock since the pandemic began. He has encouraged, supported, and defended us as we navigate our way. He continues to shine the Light for all in his dedication to providing opportunities for all to celebrate the Eucharist either in person safely, or through the continued media ministry he has continued to support. The Light of Christ shines brightly through Father Eric, as he continues to lead and support us in our faith quest. Lastly, parents, you are the Light of the World who have chosen to bring the Light to your children. Being a part of a community of believers connects us all in the Light of Christ. We are committed together in the belief that the truth of the Light is the most important awakening for our children. We are united together shining the Light for our children to see, united in the truth that Jesus is our Savior.
Keep shining, Rebels!

Tips for Parents & Caregivers
Below are some steps you can take to be your best for yourself and your children, even during challenging times!
Take time each day to do something for yourself, such as exercise, stretching, talking to friends, and reading.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, give yourself a timeout, even it it’s just stepping into another room for a few minutes of peace and quiet.
Keep your sense of humor when things don’t go as planned. No one is a perfect parent, or a perfect child.
Accept that children sometimes make mistakes, are inconsistent, and act thoughtlessly; this is part of being a child.
Count to 10 before you react when you get angry.
Ease tension with a smile or joke, or by changing the subject.
Listen to your child and show you value your conversations. Good communication can prevent conflict.
Schedule in family fun and fitness.
Learn how children develop and mature so you can develop realistic expectations for your child’s behavior.
Make household chores part of your children’s day so less busy work falls to you.
