Congratulations St. Luke Catholic School Rebels! Not only have we made it to Phase 2, but we have had an extremely successful start to the year. We realize the sacrifice all of you are making to continue your children with a Catholic School education, and we are proud to say that your commitment has resulted in a very positive beginning. Although this pandemic has created many challenges, it has also been a rebirth to the commitment to build a strong foundation. I think we can all see clearly that some of the things we put so much importance on before the pandemic have become less important. We are all going through this journey side by side, and our experiences and lessons are shared.
One important realization is our focus must be on setting a strong foundation for our children. The lessons we are learning today cannot be forgotten tomorrow. We know that the next several years are going to present new problems for our society, and our Christian message of compassion and support can be a beacon of light for many. Preparing our children mentally and emotionally for this new world will give them the advantage to flourish no matter what challenges may be presented. As we navigate through our new “normal”, our expectations for our children should remain high. We can teach them resilience, dedication, and commitment together.
Our Phase 2 is designed to open opportunities for all learners who are interested in that option, to have an on-campus experience. For Phase 2, we will have a weekly rotation for students. Once we confirm the numbers of families interested in this hybrid "week to week" approach, we can start the rotation. Families will be assigned a week, A or B. Once you are comfortable sending your child(ren) to school, you will send them only on your assigned week, A or B. This weekly rotation plan will offer families consistency for planning, yet give students opportunities to fulfill a goal of attending school in person for the entire week. Although a day to day option would be convenient, after much dialogue and research, we have determined that the completion of a week at a time would benefit the children in many ways. We would like to start this rotation as soon as possible, and homeroom teachers will be reaching out to confirm our numbers.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank both the teachers and the parents for creating such an amazing partnership through this new way of learning. It has definitely been a journey of discoveries. We are coming out stronger, St. Luke Rebels. We are stronger and smarter, knowing that these new challenges have not defeated us, but have made us more confident that we can do anything with the Holy Spirit guiding us.
