Dear Parents, It is hard to believe it is almost Halloween! I think we can all sit back and reflect how far we have come and be proud of what we have accomplished together. We also know that we have a lot of work to do. Our small community has everything we need to ensure a very successful year. I have found that the following mind sets have enabled us to embrace our new world with guarded optimism and fresh eyes to see solutions to the new challenges we must face.
First, it is imperative that we approach life with a solutions-oriented mindset. We can all acknowledge that life is a little bit harder than we are used to, so let’s dive into the solutions! This is a very powerful message we can send to our children, as well. We can stomp our feet and get mad at the changes to our world, or we can buckle down and make things happen. This will empower us to make positive changes and give us focus to face these challenges head on. The second mind set is compassion. We really do not know what other people are facing in their lives. We also don’t know when people are going to hit their breaking point. What we do know is that we have a compassionate heart with the love of Jesus to offer to everyone. Sending the message of compassion and love right now can transform someone from hopelessness to a renewed energy to keep going. If you notice someone is looking upset, or down, reach out and ask if they are okay. This compassionate approach is transforming. The third mind set is never surrender. We will not give up, period. We have our future to shape right now. It is time to roll up our sleeves and work together to meet the needs of our children and community. We are all one family, under God, tasked with providing a message of hope and love to all. I know times can be scary right now, and the uncertainty of how the world is transforming can cause a lot of anxiety and impatience. One thing is certain, our world can be what we make it. Let’s all work together to make St. Luke the best environment for our children and community. Let’s send the same message of hope, that with love in our hearts, and ideas in our heads, we can tackle any problems that may come our way.
I want to also thank you for your participation in our fun homecoming week. Thank you for supporting the school and the athletic department through your participation in the many activities we had this week. It was so wonderful to see so many of you at the games this week! What a message of hope for our children.
May God continue to bless you abundantly. Nadine Buhrman THE DOMESTIC CHURCH
Do you know about the Saints? You’ve heard about St. Francis of Assisi, St. Therese of the Little Flower, St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Luke, and all the famous Saints. But how much do you know about St. Florian, St. Kateri, St. Drogo, and many more? Learn about the Saints in this week’s edition of “The Domestic Church.” You are also invited to an "America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally Crusade." This outdoor rosary will be happening TOMORROW, Saturday, October 16th at NOON here at St. Luke. Come to the top of the parking lot near the marquee. Let's pray together as a community and join our voices to the over 20,000 public rosary rallies held tomorrow at the exact same time, all over our nation.
We’re Celebrating the Feast of St. Luke!
Monday, October 18 is the Feast of St. Luke. We’ll be celebrating in many ways. When you drop your children off, beginning at 7:30, Fr. Eric and Fr. Danny will be blessing our cars on both the church side and the circle drive. Then they’ll come into the school to bless our classrooms. Next, we’ll all gather on the field for a prayer service honoring St. Luke. During the day, students will paint wooden crosses to bring home to share the celebration with their families. It’s going to be a wonderful day!
