Although we have had our hands full, it has been an amazing year already! I wanted to sincerely thank you for all your support to help us kick this school year off in such a positive way. Thank you for abiding by the car line rules. Traffic is quick, safe, and efficient. Thank you for your patience as we become familiar with the new year traffic flow and patterns. Thank you for keeping sick students at home and for the support as we ride this Covid wave at school. We appreciate the quick communication and the teamwork to keep our school healthy. Thank you for trusting us with your most treasured possessions. We want this to be the happiest school in town!
Thank you for the kind emails and support with our changes to the cafeteria and security guard. We realize change is difficult, but we appreciate the trust to make decisions with the school’s best interests at heart. We hope that you and your family are having a positive experience so far, at St. Luke. We teach our students to try their best every day, and the same expectation is there for us, as faculty and staff. Thank you for partnering with us to give our children the best education, spiritual guidance, and moral upbringing we can.
We are in the process of planning so many fun things to help build our community. Please be on the lookout for upcoming fun events. We look forward to spending time together this year.
Nadine Buhrman Principal Counselor’s Corner…
Happy New School Year! The St. Luke Counseling department hopes that everyone had a great summer vacation and first two-week adjustment to the 2022/2023 school year. We are so excited to begin our guidance lessons this year. Pre-K through 4th grade will be introduced to the Kimochis and Kelso’s Choices lessons starting August 29. 5th through 8th grade will be introduced to Second Step and Real Essentials curriculum.
Kimochis: “On the surface, we’re a family of cuddly critters and a big bowl of emotions. Underneath, we’re a proven system for helping kids grow and transform by dealing skillfully with their feelings.”
Kelso's Choice, the leading tool for teaching conflict management skills for children Pre-K through 5th grade.
Second Step is a classroom-based social skills program for students in preschool through junior high (ages 4–14 years), with a distinct curriculum for each grade. It is designed to reduce impulsive, high-risk, and aggressive behaviors and increase children's social competence and other protective factors.
The REAL Essentials curricula suite was developed in alignment with studies and data on effective communication strategies which includes conflict resolution and best practices in the field of human development and thriving.
Thank you, Archbishop Gustavo, for the beautiful mass installing Father Joel Quezada as our new pastor!
All in attendance had great fun at the reception!
Welcome Officer Seth!
Please help us welcome our newest St. Luke Rebel, Seth Tabor. Seth is our new full-time security guard. Seth is a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and Central Catholic High School. Seth also served in the Army. He is a great fit for our school.
Many thanks to all who have generously donated to our fund which helps to offset the cost of this service for our school. The donation link will remain open all year, so please continue to give a little if you can.
Thank you also to the Morales family for working with us to get this service quickly and affordably. We are so grateful for the community coming together to support us. We have lots of plans to use Officer Seth to be a positive influence and part of our Rebel family.
