Dear St. Luke Community, As the numbers rise with Covid 19 cases, we should recommit ourselves to vigilance on the three W’s; Wash your hands, Watch your distance, Wear your mask. Please be careful over the holidays. We want to keep our teachers and students safe. If you do plan on gathering for Thanksgiving, and you do not plan on adhering to the three W’s, we ask that you please stay home and distance learn for the week of November 30 through December 4. Your child can do distance learning as you ascertain whether your family was exposed to Covid 19. If you were exposed to Covid 19 over the holiday, please plan on quarantining the CDC recommendation of 14 days. If you know in advance that you will have your child home for the week of November 30, please let your teacher know this week, so they can send necessary learning materials home.
Thank you in advance for supporting us in our efforts to keep our community safe. We appreciate your commitment to safety. Just a reminder that we do have school next week, Monday, November 23, and noon dismissal Tuesday, November 24. After-school Care will not be available on November 24. If your child will be distance learning for these two days, for whatever reason, please let the teachers know so your child has what they need to be successful. On behalf of the Faculty and Staff of St. Luke, we want to say we are grateful for each and every one of you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, stay safe, and don’t forget to count your blessings!
Thank you so much for your support!

GRATITUDE
All the changes and challenges that have accompanied the pandemic have caused a lot of stress and fatigue for many people. After all, as some have noted, this pandemic has not been a sprint or a 50-yard dash, it has been a marathon. Feeling unsettled going into the holidays is, therefore, completely understandable. It can be difficult knowing that family and community traditions will not be the same as usual.
Intentionally focusing on gratitude during challenging times can be very powerful. Adding gratitude to your thoughts can brighten your mental health. An article in Psychology Today reports that there are scientifically proven benefits of gratitude. Among these are: improved relationships, improved physical health, increased happiness, increased empathy, increased self-esteem, reduced depression, and better sleep.
So, what are you grateful for this year? Now is a great time to focus on all the things you do have. Nurturing an attitude of gratitude is one thing we can all do to improve our overall well-being.
Voting ends at midnight, November 19, for the Class of 2021 Fall Court. See our Facebook post for this year’s nominees and a link to cast your vote for King and Queen. All proceeds benefit the Beta Club Scholarship Fund.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO PERFORM IN OUR FACEBOOK LIVE FUNDRAISER?
The Mother Teresa Society is sponsoring “St. Luke’s Got Talent,” a Facebook Live Fundraiser benefiting the children at St. PJ’s Children’s Home. We’re looking for performers who would like to showcase their talents for this worthy cause. Our show will be held in the parish hall on Wednesday, December 9 from 7-8 PM. We’ll be accepting 10 acts, and our show will be broadcast on Facebook Live, since it can’t be held in front of an in-person audience.
If you’d like to try out, please email your audition video to Mrs. Dannhardt at [email protected] by Monday, November 23 at 8 AM. The selection committee will meet that day to choose the 10 acts that will be broadcast to help us raise money for St. PJ’s. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Dannhardt at the above address. Let us put the spotlight on YOU, and help make life a bit brighter for the kids at ST. PJ’s.
A heartfelt thank you to the school community for your generous donations to our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for our Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Your kindness will help many struggling families have a special Thanksgiving meal.
