Football
Schools will be allowed to start voluntary practices with students up to twice a week only if the school is ready to allow students back on campus. Voluntary practices may not exceed two hours. No helmets or contact drills may take place until September 7.
Helmets only on the first day of practice, September 7, for 4 consecutive days. On the 5th day, pads may be used.
The schedule will be reduced to 5 games and 1 scrimmage. Games to begin October 1st. Scrimmages will be held the last week of September.
A championship will not be played. Championship will be awarded based on team records.
Volleyball
Start date September 7. (Concurrent with TAAPS start dates for Catholic high schools.)
Schools will be allowed to start voluntary practices with students up to twice a week only if the school is ready to allow students on campus. Voluntary practices may not exeed two hours. This may begin as early as August 18 (original AIAL) start date.
Scrimmage with non-district opponents on Week 4, September 14th to 18th.
A tournament may not have more than 4 schools. Only district schools may combine for a tournament.
All schools must have an operational plan posted prior to conducting workouts with coaches and athletes (voluntary or in-season.)
Game Format Adjustments
B teams will play 2 sets only to 25 (cap 30)
A teams will play best 2 out of 3; 3rd set to 15 (cap 20)
In all matches, teams will stay on the same bench. In each match, an additional two time outs will be taken at point 8 and point 16 for all players to sanitize.
A parent volunteer will be needed from each team to sanitize game balls prior to each serve. Three game balls will be used in the rotation.
Teams will not shake hands before or after the game. Both teams will stand on their respective end lines and bow to each other following prayer. The same should be done at the conclusion of the game.
A League championship will not be played. District champions will be awarded based on record.
Cross Country
Smaller district satelite meets will be hosted. This would include 10 or fewer schools.
UIL recommends no more than 8 schools at a meet to include JV and varsity boys and girls. Although the AIAL meet would not have more athletes than this recommendation, it is prudent to reduce the meet size for the middle school age group.
AIAL schools are advised to run in cross country meets with 100 participants or less.
Each team's starting boxes will be separated by 6 feet to reduce potential close contact between athletes. The start of a cross country race is the most congested part of the race.
Thank you,
