The half-way point of Lent brings a truly remarkable moment in the life of the Catholic Church.
From the Holy Father:
“I invite every community and all the faithful to unite with me on Friday, March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation, for the Solemn Act of Consecration of humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that she, the Queen of Peace, may help us obtain peace.”
The Entrustment and Consecration will take place at 5pm in Rome, 11am local time, where San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, local priests-- and bishops and priests all over the world-- will offer the same act on the same day in obedience to the Pontiff.
We invite the St. Luke community to click on the link below for the recently released:
‘Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary’ prayer from the Vatican that you can pray on Friday in solidarity.
Cardboard Kids will be distributed in March. Decorated Cardboard Kids will placed all over San Antonio on “Reveal Day”, Thursday, April 7, 2022. Cardboard Kid’s social media campaigns, volunteers, and community partners like YOU, guarantee a greater awareness of the problem of child abuse. Let us all be champions for those who have spoken up as well as for those who need a voice.
April is Month of the Military Child Thursday, April 14 - "Purple Up Day"
Wear purple to celebrate military kids! Purple references the joint environment of the military, encompassing all service branches, Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans. Purple combines each branch’s colors into one: the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard all use shades of blue, the Army uses green, and the Marines use red. The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC®) will celebrate Purple Up Day this year on April 14th.
The St. Luke Community is partnering with Catholic Relief Services to raise money to help the people of Ukraine. We are collecting money on a Cheddar Up site. Monies raised will be sent to Catholic Relief Services. All the students in our school have painted sunflowers (the national flower of Ukraine), and those sunflowers will be given to anyone who makes a $5 donation. Paintings will be sent home with students you select at checkout. Please help us help the people of Ukraine! Please share this information with family and friends. The collection will end on April 4.

Kinder Mad Science Fridays
A huge thank you to Providence Catholic School students and Mrs. Mayhan, science department chair, for coming out for “Mad Science” Friday! We appreciate the demonstration, hands on approach and the donation of the rocket launchers! “R” Kinder students had a blast! Shout out to Nichole D. from the class of 2018 for coming back home and your help! Once a Rebel, always a Rebel!
Writing Across the Curriculum
4th Grade had a great time studying biomes. They continued by writing about what they had learned. “Writing Across the Curriculum” emphasizes the development of writing skills in all subject areas, not just English Language Arts, helping students to become better writers and critical thinkers.
