Dear St. Luke Community,
 
We are so excited to have the accreditation visiting team here next week. They will be observing our teachers, interviewing different people, and engaging with our community. I ask for your prayers, as we go through this process of accreditation. My hope is that they see the amazing community we have, the level of excellent teaching happening every day, and the love and joy that we strive to spread to everyone in our community.
 
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the high level of participation over the past few months. Thank you for your support on the 5K Fun Run. If you feel so inclined, we would like to have some parents involved next year. St. Mary Magdalene wins every year, so we want to give them some competition! It is the Rebel way, after all.
 
Thank you, also, for your donations during our fundraisers the past month. The King and Queen of the Pumpkin Patch raised over $6,000 that goes straight back to our 8th graders in the form of scholarships for attending a Catholic High School. We are so grateful that we have scholarship funds for our students! Thank you, also, for participating in the civvie’s days and bake sale. The civvie’s money goes to a charitable organization and half to PTC, which goes straight back to our students. The bake sale money will go to purchase blankets for the homeless. Thank you also for the socks donated. We collected around 1200 socks to donate to homeless shelters. This is who we are called to be, so thank you for teaming with us to help make our faith come alive.
  
Thank you, also, for all the hard work the athletic department spent to put on such fun games and our tailgate. Thank you to all who participated. It really was such a fun time to gather and hang out as a community.
 
Thank you to our PTC. They are behind the scenes of so much, donating their time, talents, and treasures. We are so grateful for all you do to make our community so special.
 
A few heads ups for the near future. We are having a Thanksgiving food drive to support St. Vincent de Paul. Please check for what your grade level is asked to donate. We appreciate all donations. We also have a date for our Christmas Tree Lighting, hosted by PTC. We hope to have Santa, a living manger scene, and Christmas carols. The date is Friday, December 2 at 6:00 pm in the CYO blacktop area. More information to come.
 
Being a part of a Catholic community that is so vibrant and full of love and generosity brings joy to my life every day. We truly strive to make our community special, so we can teach our children how to live a faith-filled life based on the loving message of Christ.

Counselor’s Corner…
 
ChildSafe San Antonio will provide an internet safety lesson to students and parents on November 21, 2002.  Parents are invited to attend the parent session from 8:30 to 10:00 am. The presentation will be in the gym.

Be Safer Online (1 hr.) KidSmartz/NetSmartz Internet Safety curriculum is from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and is aimed at providing both children and parents ways to keep children safe online.

Veteran’s Day Mass

We are so happy to send extend this invitation to the Veterans in our community. We will have a Veterans Day Appreciation Mass next Wednesday, Nov. 9 starting at 8:15 in the church. We invite all Veterans from our community, including, but not limited to: parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, Godparents, etc. 

Please extend this invitation to any Veterans who have touched the lives of our children in our community.
 
We will have a special section for them to sit, so we may praise God together and extend a special blessing for them.
