“Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” – Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize 1986
“The most important element in a difficult conversation is starting one. Never is this truer than with our difficulty talking about child sexual and physical abuse. That is why in 2014, ChildSafe created Cardboard Kids®, a city-wide public awareness campaign to draw attention to the pervasiveness of child abuse and the fact that every story is different and every child unique”, (Childsafe-sa.org).
On Friday, April 14, we will honor children who have one or both parents serving in the military by wearing a purple shirt to school. Purple is chosen to symbolize the combined colors of all branches of the military. Please wear your purple shirt with your uniform bottom and uniform shoes. Our school will be celebrating this day by distributing certificates to military children. Students whose parents fill out this form will be recognized in their classrooms. If you are a military parent and do not fill out this form by 04/05/2023, we cannot recognize your child in time. Please fill out the Google form that can be found on the link below. It will indicate your branch of service. Only parents and/or guardians that are serving or that have served 180 days or more on active-duty orders are eligible to have their child recognized.
