Dear St. Luke Community, 

            This holiday season, I am rediscovering what truly brings me joy. The things I took for granted have become a source of longing, like a simple hug, or seeing a smile on a child’s face. I would like to take this opportunity to relay what has brought us joy this past year, and I hope that regardless of what is happening in your life right now, you can find the joy that may be hidden. St. Catherine of Siena said, “Nothing great is ever achieved without enduring much”. I believe we are about to achieve greatness, because we have endured so much this year. Now, it is time to be joyful with the many gifts we have been blessed with this year.
 
            We are overjoyed with our beautiful children. They truly bring joy to St. Luke. These children are what get us up in the morning and create joy in our lives every day. What a blessing to be in a school where we can not only share the gift of God’s joy, but teach them about God every day. We love our children and are so grateful for each and every one of them.
 
            We have an abundance of joy with our loving community, the friendships we have fostered, and the laughs we have shared. At St. Luke we can truly work together to create the loving environment we all need and deserve. We are building our community on the foundation of love and joy, and the moments we share should spread God’s joy around.

            We are blessed to experience the complete joy that comes from God through the Eucharist. Through the mass and Father Eric leading our church, we are joyful that we can share in these moments to help shape our hearts in the likeness of Christ. Celebrating the Eucharist together is internalizing the love and joy God has for us that will empower us to live our lives professing the belief that our God is the God of the living, the God of all, the God of joy and love.
 
            Our teachers work hard at their craft of helping to educate and shape our youth. The joy that comes from watching our children learn and grow is an experience that defies explanation. Each day brings new opportunities to share joy together, as a learning community. The true joy comes from the classroom community and their journey of faith together. Our teachers are not only educating, they are professing our faith in Jesus and his plan for us to have love and joy in our hearts.

            Although we have endured so much this year, we are truly blessed to be together defining our moments of joyous unity with God and our community. We have much to do in the New Year, much to overcome, and still much to endure. Please hold onto these opportunities to find joy in your heart and to share it with others. Mark Twain said, “To get the full value of joy you must have somebody to share it with”.
 
            From us to you, Merry Christmas, may the peace and joy of God fill your hearts with love always. You will be in our prayers and hearts over the holidays.

St. Luke Career Day Speakers Needed

St. Luke will be hosting a career day the morning of Friday, February 5, 2021 during Catholic Schools Week. We are excited to be offering this experience to our entire student body. We are extending an invitation to parents who would like to make this day as fulfilling as possible.

Parent volunteers are needed to talk to our Pre-K 4 - 8th grade students about career choices and the kind of steps that must be taken in order to gain access into chosen careers. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our students to be introduced to the variety of careers that are available in our job market, and it will help them to begin to develop a plan for future endorsement studies in high school. (Endorsements consist of a related series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business and Industry, Public Service, Arts and Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies).

If you are interested in being a presenter, please email Mrs. Quintanilla and/or Mrs. Lopez at [email protected] and [email protected] and provide us with the following information:  details about your career  grade(s) you prefer to present to (early childhood, elementary, middle school)

Each speaker will give a 10-15-minute presentation via Zoom.  Speakers will be provided with an outline to follow in preparing your presentation. Thank you for your support of our school’s efforts to teach and guide students toward successful career choices.

If you are a Distance Learner this week, please come by the Parish Hall carport on
Thursday. PTC will be passing out a Christmas gift to every current St. Luke student. In-person learners will receive their gift in class on Friday. All gifts not picked up on Thursday will be donated to a charitable organization.

We will also have apparel orders placed online by Distance Learners available for pick up.

We encourage you to bring your sold Catholic Life raffle tickets and pick up new raffle ticket booklets to sell over the holidays. Please support the efforts to give our 
Library an updated look and help your grade win the Mini Field Day!

Student Leaders Eugene and Fiona, organizing diapers which have been generously donated to benefit young mothers and babies residing at Seton Home. The students are still in need of a few more packages before the school’s Advent Stable is full. Please help, if you can.
